I don't see a way to create a saved search that will work on multiple accounts. What am I missing?

You want a saved search across multiple folders, for unread messages. Once you've set up the saved search folder, you can customize via the folder properties dialog to add folders in other accounts. I spend most of my time in my unread messages saved search folder, which searches over folders that get new mail (inboxes and folders that are targets of message filters)

BTW, the "View Folders->Unread" thing is there on branch, but it's not really what I want. I want to see all the messages that are unread in one view, not a list of folders with unread messages in them that I need to click through one by one. Unless there's something about this interface I'm missing.

I tried out TB2, and ran into some quirks that drove me quickly back to 1.5.0.7, although it looks very promising.

Didn't know about the letter "M" thing. I did figure out the blue star. My real concern is in the actual message window, but the Mark button does it, so whatever. The label isn't very clear though. The only "marking" I ever do is read or unread, so it would be nice to have buttons that say exactly that. :)

For marking messages as read (or unread) you can type the letter M or click the little blue star next to the message.

> It would be nice if I could have an “Unread messages” smart
> mailbox like I have on the Mac, that shows all my unread
> messages regardless of which account they’re in. One-stop
> shopping for new mail.

You can do that in Thunderbird 2. Search for [Status] [isn't] [Read] and [Save as Search Folder].

Interestingly, this theme looks great in Safari and Camino, but not in Firefox. I don't know why. The lines aren't shown in Safari, and they're not at all distracting in Camino.

I've read all of your Thunderbird posts.

> “Unread messages” smart mailbox like I have on the Mac
It's already on the trunk - probably branch too.

> I wish I didn’t have to set it separately for each account
Well you don't :) This should do it:
mail.identity.default.compose_html = false

And like BZ, your commenting system is really annoying. Not just the lines. Also the white borders and the label positioned beneath the fields.
